Sony To Buy Rockstar Games

The reasons as to why Sony and Rockstar Games are finally showing some signs of cooperation are coming to light. Although not confirmed by either Sony or Rockstar Games, it does appear as though the rumours regarding Rockstar Games becoming Sony Exclusive may very well be true... but the deal between them isn't simply a "I'll pay you .... to not make games for another platform" but a "Here's some money, now your soul belongs to us".

It seems that Sony is looking to take Rockstar "under their wings", which would effectively mean that the next GTA (after GTAIV) will be PS exclusive along with all the other games that are created by Rockstar such as Manhunt and Bully.

    It would be a great gain for Sony to own Rockstar Games. They are one of the best developers around, and having exclusive access to their future library will definitely help with sales.

      I wouldn't call them one of the best... I thought the GTA's on the PS2/Xbox were quite repetitive. However, there's no denying that they know how to make games that sell.

      If this is true, it'll be funny to hear what the Sonybots who were saying "All Microsoft does is bribe publishers and purchase developers!" a couple of months ago have to say now.

        Haha you made a good point there Cdemon, about people moaning Microsoft bribe publishers and purchase developers, what appears to be going on here is the same but on a bigger scale, sure will be amusing to see what Sony fans have to say about this.

        But yeah this is a big move for Sony, a very good one if you ask me.

          Which means that There not going to pay Rockstar money most likely there long term friendship will be enough, besides they know when they release GTA4 there install base could be good or better.

    That would mean GTA would become, once again, exclusive to the PS3. At least by the time GTA V comes out, Sony's PS3 install-base will be big enough for RockStar to generate an acceptable profit.

    That would indeed be a good sign for Sony. Having Rockstar by their side is bound to help them big time IMO.

    Nothing but wishful thinking until confirmed...which I doubt will be anytime soon. But if it is true...sure beats the hell out of 50 mil. XD

    All rockstar wants is money. The more money the better. Maybe if Sony gave them millions of dollars, they might consider it.

    Yeah, I doubt this is the case...

    And there won't be a GTA V...I do think it was confirmed a while ago, that Rockstar isn't going to make another one...but no doubt, they will make many similar ones...

    GTA V will come out some time. Probably not for a long time but GTA is one of the most popular games right now, and probably will be for a while. Just like halo.

    Incredible, if Sony was able to buy them it would be simply great for the Playstation 3. Though they have some exclusive from them already with the GTA Saga maybe sticking in the future to the Ps3, these just resembel to one saying "Good Times"
