Sony Buying Rockstar A Lie?

xsynergyx | August 09, 2007 | News | Company
You've heard the rumors that Sony could possibly be buying Rockstar, but is it all lies? CVG has their given reasons why it would be a bad move for Rockstar and Sony. Sony is actually losing money, so why would they spend a huge amount of cash just to buy out Rockstar? It wouldn't be good for Rockstar to sell themselves since they're still going multi-platform, but if Sony buys them, they'll be concentrated on one console. Overall, nothing makes sense on why Sony would buy Rockstar.
It sounds like another example of a fan's wet dream to us. Unless there's a surprise outbreak of mad cow disease in its offices, we could never see Take Two flogging off its prize asset. On top of that, SCEI is still posting losses and cutting back on expenditure so we can't see it spending what would be a hugely exaggerated amount on Rockstar.

It'd be bad news for Rockstar as well, which'd be going from its long-running strategy of multi-platform development to limiting itself to just one console. So in summary; it wouldn't make sense for Sony, it wouldn't make sense for Take Two and it wouldn't make sense for Rockstar.

It won't happen until at least GTA4 comes out. Rockstar would have to pay millions if not billions of dollars to Microsoft to make up for the lost exclusive.

How is it limiting to be on one console when the PS3 has the best specs? Rockstar could take advantage of the blu ray and processor for their own games. They probably won't make as much money but the games would be better.

Rockstar can take advance of the blu ray and processor with their games right now, I think you seem to be forgetting that they already can right now. And the only thing that would make the games better is because they would have more people working on the games, but hire a few more people and that problem is solved.

    Synergy you need to quit.

Also, why does this article says it's bad news for rockstar? Getting bought by a company is bad? A company is going to pay them millions of dollars to make games that don't even necessarily have to be good.

Also if that logic applies what about MS buying Bungie to make games. I mean everyone here has been saying that Sony needs to buy and keep there exclusives and now a possibility shows up and everyone is like OMG that can't happen, it would be bad for Rockstar. Yea it didn't seem to be bad for them Last gen.

I would like to see Sony buy them as in the long run the problems that you have stated will be erased and they will more then likely be in a profit over both.
