Heavenly Sword is scheduled for a release in September. In the mean time though, we get six episodes of Anime (one released each Thursday) to keep us excited for the game until then. The first episode was released today. It shows bloodlust, beautiful artwork, and some background storyline on the Heavenly Sword itself. It's a good watch with creepy music and the perfect voice for a narrator.

In the build-up to Ninja Theory's much-anticipated Heavenly Sword, currently scheduled for release some time in September, Sony's whisked up six exquisite anime-esque mini-episodes, detailing the history of the titular blade.

Starting today, a new episode is set to hit the PlayStation Network every Thursday at 5pm BST, with the first relating the tale of the Heavenly Sword's descent from the hereafter.

We'll have the episodes over here on IGN in glorious move-o-vision every Thursday from 5pm too if you can't be bothered to power up your PS3 - or, say, don't have one yet.
