One of the best games to be announced at E3 2011 would have to be this one. I've been waiting for the follow-up of Far Cry 2 for too long now, and finally we'll get it, albeit in 2012, but a little more wait never hurt anyone.

OXCGN writer looks at how the game has evolved, and its comparison to Crysis's jungle gameplay of previous iterations. Some great vid and images as well.

If they bring back a bolstered map editor, the games going to be a runaway success.

Without a doubt, the announcement of Far Cry 3® was a no-brainer seeing how well Far Cry 2 was when released.

Despite a few flaws that really hindered the game at times, such as the continuous jamming of your AK47 (or any other weapon of choice), the moment where your malaria struck and you had no pills, or the unlimited re-spawning of enemies at each checkpoint no matter how many times you had killed them, it was something fresh.

A few highlights of the title were the awesome fire effects, huge scenic vistas and bonus multiplayer map editor.

So Ubisoft announcing Far Cry 3® was no surprise in all retrospect, but the real surprise is not only how amazing it looks and seems to play, but how eerily similar it appears to Crysis 1/2 and Far Cry 2 mashed up into one big ball of jungle fun.

Loved the first two games, yep, even the 1.5 game that was between console iterations, but especially Far Cry 2's map editor. Fantastic for a console map editor. If more developers with good shooters could deliver such great tools to console gamers, the serious ones, even as an option, the developers would see a longer game retention than they do now.

Far Cry 3 is looking and sounding great, interesting interview as well.
