Interesting stastics. The Xbox 360 has been labelled something of a one trick pony when it comes to its diversity of games titles, but research shows that a mere 17% of titles for the Xbox 360 are shooters, meaning that 83% take other forms. The biggest slice(s) of the pie go to sports games and action/adventure titles with a mighty 26% each.

As you walk into the local gamestop looking for something to buy sometimes you may ask yourself, “Maybe I need something new.” But as you walk through the sea of games and crying children you may notice a trend, everything is an FPS. Life goes on and you take it home wondering, “Do I really need to kill the invaders as a space marine again?” There ends your day and wondering.

Fpssource.net decided that its time to stop wondering and look at this problem with numbers and found that most games available on Xbox 360 aren’t shooters, they are sports games and action adventure games. The numbers say a lot and it shows what people are looking for when they buy a game on the platform (and the RPG number shows why the Japanese dont buy anything that says Xbox on it). Also all the games counted are coming out this month for example Bioshock is listed.

Meh I've never really labeled the 360 as a FPS shooter console, people only say that because of Halo.

I am surprised a bit about the amount of sport titles though, mainly because I hate sport games and never pay attention to them and I constantly think how can people buy that shit?

Eh.. I guess GoW is a cool game, it doesn't really appeal to me. The 360 has some great FPS games, though. It's kinda strange to see the action/adventure block is so big. o__O

Still, FPS and Sports games both share the biggest segments. So there are more FPS games on the 360, than there are of each other kind (not accumativelt, obviously).

You've got action/adventure and FPS mixed up. FPS only represent 17% whereas action/adventure and sports both share the biggest segments at 26% each.

Ick sports games. How can poeple spend 60 bucks on the same thing that was created last year with beefed up graphics?

Well I think these statistics are a little off. Most people i know who buy games for 360 buy shooters. But that in no way saying all it has is shooters. The console and the controller are made for shooters yes. The sport games should be bought 20 less than the others. no reason to dish out 60 bucks for what linkin park said same thing with beefed up graphics.

Haha, good question, lpf. I do it, too...with the wrestling games, that is, but they seem to have more to offer than games like Madden...where they could buy a game and have downloadable content for about 2-3 years for an updated roster and such...instead of just doing some changes and putting it on the market.

If everybody would pick two genres, FPS's would be higher.

I like the fact that all the people who say "the 360 is meant for FPS" are proven wrong now.

I hate it when people say that.

The Xbox 360 sure does have a hell of a lot of FPS and it does annoy me, therefore to see these statistics really does amaze me. I thought I was the only one that would only buy a FPS everynow and then, instead spending my money on other genres!

Well it doesnt matter a percentage of the shooter games it all depends on how good they are and most are excellent i rather have a small amount of games that are good than alot of games that arent that good.Microsoft cares about whats games they get they just dont get any game.

I was very surprised by those stastics. I expected more FPS games for the 360 seeing as how many FPS games are currently out for the 360.

Lol, go sort. But people have cared as i've seen them argue it out a bit more. I would say this was about right but still the main titles that come to the title that everyone gets are shooters, that is why it is labled this.
