Xbox 360 Ultimate? It's Fake! Don't Believe It!

A poster on the NeoGAF Forums claims that a GameStop employee unveiled to him the Xbox 360 Ultimate Pack, which was also recently posted on GameGrep. Following Revolution is here to make sure everyone knows this is a fake rumor, and not true at all, with hard evidence.

Why this is fake: Microsoft doesn’t need to compete with Sony. The 360 is holding it’s ground more than good against the PS3, and even more so with the price drop and the 80GB sham of a PS3. Next, games will never be on HD-DVD. Ever. Theres millions of 360s out there, and they simply can not be ignored. Next, the Elite can not become the new Premium (and I’m assuming the old Premium be the new core) due to the price. Microsoft would be back to loosing a ton of money on every 360 sold if they dropped the price that low. Why would they drop the price $50, then an additional $70? It’s not going to happen. The GameStop employee also claims that Microsoft hasn’t started making HDMI enabled Premiums yet, and we have hard evidence that they are being sold at stores right now.

  As for the article, it's too bad there won't be an ultimate package, but as Silver Mirror said, it would make all previous 360s obsolete and therefore alienate a large portion of their consumer base.

As much as people want Microsoft to allow the 360 to play games on HD-DVD its simply not possible. It would make every previous built 360 obsolete and piss off a lot of consumers

This article sure does sum up good evidence against the Xbox 360 Ultimate. Shame there won't be such thing as an Ultimate (least yet) but least I now understand why it won't be happening.
