Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 are set to duke it out this fall, but the developers behind BF3 don't think a competition is worth the hassle.

In a recent interview with PSM3, Patrick Bach, executive producer for Battlefield 3, explains that the rivalry between the two series is rather unfounded due to several factors. First of all, he says that in order for there to be this grandiose, drawn out fight, that would mean that the two series are competing at “the same sport.”

Competition implies that the two games are relatively on the same level. Not the case, MW3 couldn't hope to be as good as BF3 will be.

Couldn't agree more, BF3 will wipe the floor with MW3's recycled ass!

I'm probably boycotting COD games from now on, feel as though I waste my money on them, Battfield games have always been better and more fun.

lol, every game is at some degree competing with every other game, whether the devs want to admit it or not. true what hes saying about the 2 games being pretty different but they are still the same genre and theme, so they are competing to a point. DICE is just trying to be humble so they wont look like arrogant pricks when BF3 wipes the floor with MW3.

I'll probably get either both MW3 and BF3, or I'll only get Skyrim first and wait later to get the other two.

I'm quite certain MW3 is going to destroy BF3 in sales through sheer popularity and hype, but I don't care about that. I just want them both to be great games because I'm extremely excited for them.

I'm especially interested when it comes to BF3. I think that, no matter what the devs say, they are competing with MW3. I'm very intrigued to see if this just ends up being another title coming up short, like Medal of Honor or Homefront, or if they actually bring something new and compelling to the table.

So far, the main thing I keep hearing about BF3 is "Teh Graffickz r uhmazing!!", which actually worries me. That's often a sign that game is just going to look pretty and fall short everywhere else. I sincerely hope that's not the case this time.

    Only time will tell.

all it needs to do is be like BF2 with any new things brought in by Bad Company, new weapons of course and good graphics. it doesnt need to be revolutionary or anything, BF2 was awesome how it was. they are supposedly letting you customize your character in depth now a la recent COD games, and there are supposed to be a crazy number of weapons to choose from like COD too.

this is dumb, BF3 and MW3 have the biggest competition of the year. These two games are directly competing with each other. No need to talk about all this bullshit, both are big FPSs and they come out at the same time. That is competition my dear friend.

People clearly didn't get it when he said there was no competition between BF3 and MW3 he was right. BF3 will crush MW3.....quality wise of course. All the 12 year olds will of course buy MW3 and MW4 so on and so forth crushing BF3 sales wise *sigh*

sales is the only thing that matters to a business... but yes, this is still a direct competition.
