Microsoft has high hopes for the sales profits of Halo 3, to be released on September 25th of this year. They have their hopes set on it bringing in over $150 million on the first day alone!

In its first 24 hours of release in 2004, the second installment of the sci-fi shooter earned $125 million. That number forced many nongamers to take the vidgame biz seriously for the first time.

With "Halo 3," Microsoft's Xbox unit wants not only to top the 2004 figure but to reach $155 million in a single day -- besting the $151 million opening weekend for "Spider-Man 3," the current record holder for a pic at the box office.

I doubt it will hit that much in one day, movies don't hit that much in one day more like 4. But expect it to hit around 20 mill.

Movies don't hit much on one day because it isn't possible...The theatres can only seat so many people, and is more than an hour or two, whilst a product to buy like Halo 3 would be sold by the minute. Plus, games cost more than a movie ticket.

Wouldn't that mean less people would buy the game because it costs more?

Didn't Star Wars III make tons of money? I forgot how much.

I love how you make up random numbers and state them as fact. That's why no one takes you seriously.

Spider-Man 3 made $151m in the opening weekend? Wow.

And I'm sure they could top that. I mean, have you seen the crowd lining behind this game? This has had more hype than sliced bread got.

Microsoft should be aiming bigger, at least if the statistics shown prove so!

"Considering that all new Xbox 360 titles sell for $59.99, ten more bucks than the previous generation, Halo 3 should be able to surpass its predecessor's first day sales just by selling the same amount of copies at launch."

No one can doubt that since Halo 2's release there has been a lose of interest in the franchise now can you? So therefore I have total faith that Halo 3 will reachthe $155 million mark and go on much furthur to sell millions more.

Spiderman tickets are ten bucks at the most.

Halo 3 is going to cost anywhere from 60 bucks to $100.

      It's gonna happen.

I won't be surprised if Halo 3 reaches $50 million the first day.

You're not reading this right. Microsoft won't be surprised if it reaches $150 million on the first day.

Is the logic here that difficult?

$155 million doesn't even sound like a lot for Halo 3. With over a million preorders, Bungie is pretty much guaranteed at least $100 million at launch. Not too mention all the people who plan on picking on a copy walking in the stores.

They should make an XBox 360 + Halo 3 pack.

They might. Some stores might offer special bundles when the Halo 3 Special Edition Xbox 360 comes out.

There's no telling how much that would actually cost. Still, some people would buy it.
