GamerGaia's Joshua Mobley has just reviewed Magic: The Gathering 2012! Check out GamerGaia for full the full review and see what Joshua thinks of video game card games!

When I was about 7 years old, my dad was playing a new card game. I never really knew much about it, but I’d watch him play with his friends some nights, drinking beer and having fun. Of course I never really understood what tapping mana meant, what land cards were, or any of that other trading card lingo. I mainly watched the game because dragons and fantasy were interesting to me and I liked imagining crazy battles with monstrous beasts, valiant warriors, and dark rituals.

It's imperfect but I love the hell out of it.

yeah only downsides seem to be that you cant build a custom (multicolor) deck, cant pick what lands to tap in the case of multicolor and the AI always busts out ridiculous cards every turn, especially Archenemy.

this game actually is what got me to start playing MTG. i had never given it much thought before but i tried the demo and liked how it played. now i understand pretty well how to play and am looking to getting a few cards in real life. one being the Grave Titan promo foil you get for buying this game. and the 2012 event coming up in a week or so you are supposed to get a free foil and a couple booster packs too. so ill try to snag some of those.

i keep changing my mind but im planning on building a Red/White deck with some Green and Black thrown in and maybe a couple Blue. but im only really going by the decks ive used in this game and the cards ive liked or thought would have a good place in my deck.

You just need to watch out for land with an all colour deck like that. While newer and newer Magic editions are more multi-colour friendly, an all colour deck can still be difficult to do without some specific cards to that end.

yeah i probably wont use blue though, just wanted to get some fliers in there somewhere but some of the white steel ones that are artifacts have flying. i really dig the creatures that cant be blocked or not easily like fliers, landwalkers and ones that are simply unblockable.

If that's the case, if I were you I'd possibly try ditching black (and maybe green) and tossing in blue. One deck worth getting ideas from is Eventide's Sidestep deck. That thing is insane and it's only a default deck. Also, I think you'd probably enjoy getting the planeswalker "Venser, the Sojourner", as well as "Aven Mimeomancer". Stormcaller Boon's you may enjoy as well.

eh, im not too crazy about blue in general. i sorted through the blues i got in the Deckbuilder toolkit and found a couple here and there that cost 1 or 2 blue and 1 or 2 extra mana at most to cast. Wall of Frost (0/7), Vapor Snag and Ice Cage being some of them. i'll probably weed out more along with the blacks i sorted through, keeping some of the vampires and any that only cost 1 black.

so i'll likely keep some of those along with 3 or 4 islands and swamps and if i happen to draw them, cool, if not no biggie. i'll also have some things like Terramorphic Expanse which will help for getting the needed kind of land.
