The people at 2K Games have released PDF files containing tons of concept art along with some new stuff most people haven't seen before. Even though the book is released before the game, there could be some potential spoilers in the book's foreword, so they suggest you skip that until after you've completed the game at least once. There are two versions: A smaller PDF file that you can view on your PC and a larger, high-res one that you can take to a Printshop to have bound into an actual book.

Way back when I was creating the BioShock Limited Edition, I took a poll for what you guys wanted to see in the box. And while we managed to put your top 3 choices in – the Making of DVD, Sountrack CD, and Big Daddy Figurine, we just couldn’t manage a BioShock artbook.

But with a game as beautiful as BioShock, that just didn’t sit right with me. Because everyone should be able to experience the beauty of BioShock, see the concept art and visualize the evolution of building such a revolutionary game.

Pffft, do we really need this?

no matter how much I liked a game, I probably wouldn't ever get artwork of it. You can probably just see them on IGN or something.

Sorry Sten but no, you cannot just see them on IGN or "something". An art book shows off concepts the designers went through both in conceptual and final forms.

We don't need it but it is a very nice extra to have along with the game. I downloaded the high quality version today and was looking through it. The weapon concept sketches they had were really interesting. They had a photo of a real boiler that was old and rusted and the look the artist was trying to go for. It was interesting to see how they come up with some of these things.

Bravo 2kgames for releasing this to the public and not making it some special download that you could only get if you buy the LE.

I was actually talking to a friend about how much this would cost to have printed out yourself. Possibly with a hard cover, sexy yes? I likey.
