Following the recent avalanche of pointless Wii-specific accessories and peripherals, GamerSquad thought the bottom of the barrel had been scraped clean. We were wrong. Be upstanding and meet "The Gamer's Shield" gameplay digits protector... we kid you not.

By all means, feel free to check the calendar - we’re well past 01 April, and these slip-on finger guards are the real deal. Known simply as "the Gamer's Shield", they strap around each middle finger, and supposedly prevent the chafing and bruising of said digits as they rub against controllers.

According to the official site, they’re manufactured from "comfortable, stretchable, breathable, and padded" material, retail for under $4 (£2 / €3) a pair, and come in five different colours for the more discerning, er, wearer of finger protectors.

This is quite unnecessary, I mean I'm never had my fingers chafe from a game controller. They look like too much trouble.

I've gamed for over 10 years, and I've never even had to contemplate the idea of being hurt by chafe caused by controllers, lol.

Umm...I don't really need this, since I've never hurt my fingers with a controller before. This is just a bonus for people who is safety-conscious.

Would this protect the controller at all? I've had sore fingers at times but that's not a big deal, I do remember however the trigger buttons on my PS2 pads used to brake, as in being pushed in and not popping back up and stuff. Create a fix for that would be a better idea.

Lol, my friend's brother would probably get this. He takes care of his hands so much. He's afraid of them getting hurt or something. It's creepy.

I wouldn't get this though. I lived this long without them.

I doubt it would help much, in fact, they'd probably just get in the way...

And JJBdude 48 - I doubt they'd do anything about that, I'm pretty sure it won't actually >_> See, the attachments go on the fingers right under the triggers...how would that really help the trigger buttons?

Well the only finger aching problem I have is with the PSP, when messing with the D-Pad it wears your finger down quickly...playing a lot of SOTN does that to me...but I'm pretty sure I don't need this.
