Toys ‘R Us sells BioShock early

Toy 'R Us has mistakenly been selling copies of BioShock early. Originally supposed to be released on August 21st, some eager gamers have already obtained the game. The error was first discovered when a member at the NeoGAF forums purchased a copy and posted photos of it on the forums. This caused other members to check their stores, with some having success and others having to suffer.

That’s right! Toys ‘R Us has broken BioShock’s street date of August 21st. A member over at the NeoGAF forums casually walked into the store and purchased the game along with an Xbox 360 Elite and Madden 2008. He isn’t the only one who has purchased a copy early, as other members soon checked their local Toys ‘R Us stores to get their lucky little hands on the game. Even worse, various Gamertag’s have sprung up with players who are currently playing the game and have already unlocked achievements. Jealousy-fueled hatred has spread throughout gamers everywhere.     If I didn't already have the LE only available at Gamestop on reserve, I would totally drive the hour it would take to get to my Toys 'R Us and grab a copy. I would manipulate them into giving me one and use this news story as a way to do it

    I wouldn't. I was not impressed with the demo. That's one game to cross off my list as a must-have.

      It's the first level...it contains nothing of what the game has to offer, to be honest.

    Not really awesome as such, Volacide, but apparently the makers of the game are suing Toys R Us for selling a game before the release date and letting people have the copies early.

    I guess they'll get a lot of money.. it was in stock at our Toys R Us.

      How isn't that awesome? Of course they're going to be pissed because they broke the release date but it's not like they aren't still getting money from those copies that were sold. You act like since Toys R Us sold it early they won't be getting money from those games.

    This explains why I wake up this morning, view my Xbox Live Messages and discover that one of my online friends sent everyone on his contact list 2 messages boasting about obtaining Bioshock already. ¬__¬

      Because it has a release date which the publishers/developers/microsoft (dunno which one) has set and therefore must be matched. Toys R Us would get in trouble if they continued to do this, as it's not fair on other game stores.

    They probably don't even have them in stock yet. They just put it up so they can get more pre orders etc.

      How can you be so stupid not to understand that the game HAS been sold already haha. The title tells you right away and if that doesn't let you know the first sentance you read explains, blimey. haha

    Well what can you do? I'm sure they're sold out now. Whoever got it is lucky to play the full game a week before the game is supposed to be released.

    Toys 'r Us' that broke the release date are going to get some penalties, but they should still make some money, not much though, if anything at all...they can always sell more stuff to make up for the losses though, lol
