Sony Online Entertainment has announced the long awaited sequel to Planetside, Planetside 2. In addition to the announcement, a new trailer, screenshots, and concept artwork has all also been released for viewing pleasure.

Players take one take the side of one of three distinct different factions, who are all perpetually stuck in combat against each other. Players can join the conservative Terran Republic, the academic and technically advanced Vanu Soverignty, or the separatists New Conglomerate. Players must work hand-in-hand with members of their faction if they want to achieve victory on the battlefield, and victory for their faction.
