There are some things in life that you simply cannot live without, Cookie & Cream ice cream, Jennifer Connelly, Lost, and Amy Winehouse all spring to mind. But what about an old NES controller outfitted with PC mouse internals and actually usable on your desktop when sexy retro cursor control is necessary. Sign us up!

The trusty old NES controller has cropped up in all manner of unlikely places recently, appearing on necklaces, belt buckles, and even being redesigned as an iPod remote.

We can now add "optical mouse" to that list, as Alaska-based modding enthusiast "Zieak" has gone and squashed the innards of an old computer mouse into the body of the classic peripheral, allowing him to control his PC’s cursor using the modified vintage joypad.

Pretty cool looking, but it doesn't look as comfortable or as convenient as a regular mouse.

Is it just me or is this unnecessary.

While it's tempting to concede that an NES PC mouse is perhaps unnecessary... I'm instead gonna say that it's just you. If it was old Sony peripheral, you'd love it of course.

He was remarking about the blatant fanboyism which seems to exude whenever you come into the presence of an article.

Ha, that's amazing, and I bet you ten to one that more than enough people are going to buy one, even if they never hook it up to their computers.

I don't like it, it's too square-ish. A mouse has gotta be comfortable in your hand, because you're holding on to it.

I don't think this will sell as well as an optical DELL mouse, for example, but it might, we'll have to wait and see.

Actually, I'm thinking it's been made by a creative enthusiast... I don't think it's actually meant for the market.

Seems more like a novelty item then something anyone would actually use. I'd buy it.

Looks pretty cool, but I doubt that I would use it. Though it would be a nice collector's item, it doesn't look that comfortable and in the end using a normal mouse would be better.

Looks nice but pretty uncomfortable. If you're going to be on GameGrep or NeoSeeker for a while then you need something that won't make you're hand bleed after 30 minutes.

Doesnt look such a great of a mouse, but it could be designed better to become a mouse.

I know what Cookies n Cream is, but I don't know any of that other stuff. Anyway, the old NES controller would be very uncomfortable as a mouse, with the wire on the side and the placement of the buttons.

Hey what about the wii controller with the analogue stick that would look cool if it was a computer mouse.
