The Wii is the UK's number 1 seller...almost.

Infinite Gravity | August 15, 2007 | News | Wii
The Nintendo Wii is nearly the United Kingdom's number one best seller. It just needs another 3 to 4 weeks and then it will smash the sales of the Gamecube, hitting over a million.

The next thing Nintendo has to overcome is the release of Halo 3, which has been reported that the xBox 360 will also have price drops, equalling the price of a Wii in Australia and New Zealand.

The Nintendo Wii is on course to hit one million sales in the UK within three to four weeks, according to official sell-through figures from Chart-Track.

Currently the console is outselling the 360 in the UK by over four to one, and the PS3 by more than six to one each week. If it keeps it up, it should pass the GameCube's lifetime UK sales figure of just over a million by the end of September.

Naturally, then, its next milestone will be to overhaul Microsoft's lead in the UK - which, if the current trend continues, could be before the end of October. Although with Halo 3 due out at the end of September and rumours of a possible price-cut to coincide with it, Nintendo will have its work cut out to claim the number one spot that early.

Similar success stories are evident all around the world, with Nintendo swiftly closing on Microsoft to become the console manufacturer with the biggest worldwide installed base.

The Japanese giant is clearly on something of a roll, with DS installed base figures in the UK now around the 4 million mark.

Like i said b4 it depends on what people prefer in games. I mean if people prefer the wii games the xbox price drop wouldn't matter, let alone halo 3.

      One million and counting.

The biggest market is the Wii, when it reaches another half a million sales before the end of the year. The DS got 4 million sales but the number one seller in the United Kingdom atm is the mobile industry, it's huge.

Here is two hundred plastic bags, they are a cent, want it? No. But that completely defies your logic. Well lets try thinking, and see the difference between the Wii and two hundred plastic bags.

The Wii is fun for everyone, two hundred plastic bags are not. The Wii can play some sweet exclusives, two hundred plastic bags can not. The Wii has a some great old games, two hundred plastic bags do not. The Wii has a few handy online features two hundred plastic bags do not. The Wii is a worthwhile console two hundred plastic bags are not.

Just because the PS3s only eye catching feature is price doesn't mean the Wii's is. The Wii VS the Xboox360 this generations only question, the answer get both. you just learnt the secret of this generation, use it well.

Wasnt the Gamecube $200? so therefore the wii's price couldnt possibily be the reason why it is already going to have outsold the GCN.
