EA and Sony shrug off recent PS3 bashing

mistermostyn | August 15, 2007 | News | Playstation 3 XBOX 360
Not ones to take a focused slagging on their backs like corporate beetles, Sony and EA have today hit back at criticisms of the PS3. EA has lashed out following criticism of the PS3 version of Madden NFL 08, while Sony has answered Ubisoft's claim that the PS3 doesn't handle A.I. as well as the Xbox 360.
Electronic Arts has hit back at a report published yesterday by USA Today, in which it was claimed that Madden NFL 08 on the Microsoft Xbox 360 is superior to its Sony PlayStation 3 counterpart. Specifically, the paper cites the huge difference in frame rates between the two versions as the main reason, with the Xbox 360 version running at a silky smooth 60fps, while the PS3 trundles along at just 30fps.

My god some developers are *bleep*ing dumb... It is obvious the PS3 can handle more AI and more complex AI, and EA summed it up perfectly the PS3 games look stunning considering the amount of time devs have had with the SKU, 360 games look pretty poor in comparison to 3 years of development in some cases.

We’re all terribly sorry for ever doubting you or your console, Mr. Karraker – or at least we will be when you prove those claims.
Wow this statement so ignorant. I mean if devs actually started trying to work with the system this statement wouldn't have existed.

"with the Xbox 360 version running at a silky smooth 60fps, while the PS3 trundles along at just 30fps."

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't that make a massive difference in gameplay? I don't know much but I would have thought seeing double more frames would make animation much better?

No, not when everyone else is also running at 30fps. You do know that movies run at 24fps.

I don't see why people care about framerates at all. As long as the game actually moves and doesn't stutter or lag, that's perfectly fine.

Agreed any more more than 40fps and you can't tell the difference.

Besides I haven't exactly seen any spectacular AI on the 360.
