Initially thought to be a bigger buyout, at $1B, EA has officially acquired PopCap the makers of great mobile, facebook and PC games such as Plants vs Zombies and Peggle.

After rumors that an unknown buyer was planning on purchasing PopCap for around $1 billion, today the news became official: the buyer is EA, and the price is $750 million, $650M of which will be cash, the rest in shares.
