This article definitely settles any speculation that the PS3 isn't able to hack it when compared to the 360. It just goes to show you that all it takes is a skilled developer like Infinity Ward to make things happen and it makes other developers look like hacks that say they can't get their PS3 version to run at 30fps. Yes, the 360 version will also run at 60fps with full AA.

According to the dev, "Same level of AA between 360/PS3, both @ 60fps. Hate on the PS3 all you want guys, but we've done did it up right for the Sony lovers. Nothing has been 360 footage yet touted as PS3, you crack-heads! I'm not sure whats up with what you guys might have seen at E3, but we do have AA on the PS3."

I've yet to see a PS3 exclusive that really blew me away in terms of graphics. I'm talking games like Gears of War, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Dead Rising, etc. Resistance was alright, but some of the multiplayer maps could of easily been done on the PS2.

Were you living under a rock when Motorstorm came out?

Oh yeah, I forgot about Motorstorm, guticb. My bad. That game looks amazing.

My only problem with it is the rumble. It just doesn't feel right playing a racing game without feeling the vibration of your car. But that's besides the point.

Wtf???? PlayStation 2??? repeat that to yourself again to see if it makes sense.
Yes, some of the multiplayer maps weren't very impressive in terms of graphics. Maybe not the PS2, but the Xbox would be able handle it. Even the Wii.

If you think for one second that those games couldn't have been done on the PS3 then you're sadly mistaken.

Did you mean to say "Could be done on the PS2" or "Couldn't be done on the PS2"?

No, I meant to say exactly what I did say.

"if you think those games could not have been done on the PS3 then you're wrong."

He was saying how he was so impressed with the visuals of the 360 games like Gears, BioShock, Mass Effect, and I was illustrating that while those games definitely looked great, they could have looked just as good if not better on the PS3.

You right Volacide, but only if Devs actually learn to how to use the PS3 capabilities. Correct me if im wrong but didn't someone say PS3 and 360 are very similar. So how would Those games not be same if they were on the PS3. Hell given the Blu-ray Space i say that it could be better like Volacide said.

No Finalblade, they're quite different, especially when it comes to programming for the processors.

Oh my *bleep*ing god! Just type in gametrailer.com, look for the PS3 section and then type in these games:

      8 Days (easily beats Crysis)

      Gran Turismo 5

      Killzone 2

      Uncharted: Drakes Fortune

      Lair

There, is that good enough for you?

Not any good looking PS3 exclusives my arse!.

Nothing on the PS3 has really blew me away, the only recent game that really did was Gears of war, but looking at early ps3 games they do look better then most of the early 360 ones did, like compare dead or alive 4 with Virtual fighter 5 for example and generally early in a consoles live developers are still getting accustomed to the hardware so I expect to see more impressive ps3 games coming up.

Wow this is great news, more facts about how devs are lazy when it comes to PS3 game development.

lol, I'm going to sound like a chode, but whats Anti-Aliasing?
    • 1
      Existenz Aug 16, 07
Anti Aliasing makes everything looks more crisp... You know in PS2 games where edges on people and the world around you were jagged (aliased) well this takes those away, though Anti-Aliasing is a hit to performance so in console gaming it is rare to have 60FPS and maxed out Anti-Aliasing especially on a title this good looking.

Anti alasing masks/distorts your voice dosen't it?

    Just a random guess

Pc games can reach 60 fps easily more rare in console games though and as Existenz said AA makes edges on objects crisper and cleaner, it's especially noticeable when you play old games on a big HD tv you see all the little jagged edges.

The human eye needs to see 24FPS (FPS is frames per second, by the way) for it to interpret what it's seeing as a fluid picture without breaks, however more FPS still makes the image play smoother. 30FPS is a locked standard a lot of console developers aim for, as most games can manage that and locking it there prevents FPS from jumping around and potentially being very smooth in one part but much less so in another part. Antialiasing removes jagged edges around models and makes objects seem much smoother and realistic, but it's a large hit to performance, so that a game this good-looking can lock at 60FPS with maxed AA is impressive, indeed.

As for PC games, a powered-up modern PC can break the hundreds in FPS rate on current games easily enough, but consoles tend to have less raw power capability and/or developer know-how and/or other formatting issues to worry about, all of which potentially limit the performance they could achieve, so that this game makes 60FPS on a CONSOLE is even more impressive. However, there's no noticeable improvement once the FPS gets very high, i.e. no visible difference between 100 and 150 FPS, so 60FPS is a very solid rate all-around.
