SPOnG who was recently informed by the Edinburgh Interactive Festival, yesterday. Found out the incredible Low defective rate of the PS3 around 0.2%. SCEE founder Chris Deering, had this to say.

quote
If true, this is a hugely impressive statistic and is considerably less than the industry standard of three to five percent.
Elsewhere, SCEA’s senior director of corporate communications Dave Karraker, been comparing the Xbox 360 reliability rate to there own PS3.

"A lot of noise has been made recently about the reliability issues of one of our competitor's systems. So, not surprisingly, some of our more ambitious PlayStation faithfuls [from fan site PS3 Vault] decided to run their own stress test on the PlayStation 3. They put it in a freezer at zero degrees for up to 108 hours and they put it in a sauna at 120 degrees for up to 64 hours -- all the while running games and Blu-ray Disc movies on it. Did it fail? Nope. Like the Energizer Bunny, it kept going and going and going. Probably not something you want to try at home, but our thanks to the guys at PS3 Vault for putting our system through the ringer."

As for that i praise my PS3 knowing it has hardly no problems. I mean tests like that means its reliability rate is 100% IMO.

Nothing is 100% reliable, but yeah, it is very reliable

Course, if they put it through it's paces, and it failed...well, Sony wouldn't be as happy, and would say stuff like "Not designed to run under those conditions, but performed very well considering"

But yes, I'm happy to know my PS3 is unlikely to break down Course, I already knew that

Ok, it is your opinion, but the article states right there, that it is 0.2% (according to Sony)...
