With the 'next-gen' hand held war moving into the second generation, Nintendo reduces the cost of its handheld from $250 to $170. Nintendo are adamant about rewarding their loyal fans, and have created the 'ambassador status' Will this move bolster its sales?

Nintendo has unveiled plans to cut the price of their latest handheld device, the 3DS. This will see the current $249.99 price-point drop to a generous $169.99 on August 12th preparing for a strong holiday season of titles heading to this handheld.

    They should of had it around $169 in the first place. At least now it will probably sell better with the price drop and maybe move a bit so people have a change for the ambassador status.

      lol, in Australia it's going to be $250 after the price drop. So after a price drop, we're getting it for the price America had at launch. bs.

        Dude that really sucks. Can't you just like buy one of our 3DS handhelds? I'm curious to see if $169 American is the same price for us Canadians or not. I hope so since our dollar is stronger than America's.

    combination of poor sales and PSV's price point is making them do this. they know PSV kicks the 3DS's butt in every way. thats definitely the one id get if i cared anything about handheld consoles.

    I'm in the military and I ordered mine via APO delivery on Amazon (I'm in a country with no wifi atm..) and I won't be able to get it on the Internet until I go on assignment to Spain in Sept...well shit.
