Nintendo just recently announced a drop in price for the just released 3DS not even 6 months ago. While it may be an effective strategy for them, early adopters are paying the price for it. Satoru Iwata writes a letter apologizing for the price drop.

    it is kind of unfair if you bought it and full price then they just drop the price like this so I think the notice of sorry is good and helps them keep there loyalty fan base.

    Its an electronic, did people think it was gonna be the same price forever? If you are an early adopter you already know you are gonna be paying more.

      I don't think it's about people not knowing it will be the same price forever. I think it's more about how the price is dropping by $80 only four months into the handhelds life which doesn't happen unless the sales are poor.

        Exactly. A price drop of that size within four months is where people have the problem.

        Of course the 3DS was heavily overpriced to begin with, so you could say this is karma.

          Agreed. I never really agreed with the price of the 3DS so this price drop is just right. Now all Nintendo needs is to start getting all of this good games released and keep a steady flow so that sales will be good.
