Blizzard has announced recently that players will need a constant internet connection to play Diablo 3 and today they have clarified the reasons behind this. Check out the news at GamerGaia!

Yesterday Blizzard announced something that many fans were hoping not to hear; Diablo 3 will require a constant internet connection. Though many players were either depressed or outraged over this, it’s safe to say that the complaints really aren’t justified.

    not a big deal. i just hope they do good beta testing to make sure people can not cheat the system and get around that and get extra items then sell for real money.

    I think this is a good thing to do. Anyone who played D2 will remember how bad that game got hacked, so many duped items, duped Soj's.. so much so that they became the currency for trading at one point.

    Making it require an online connection helps protect against things like this happening again. I know I would rather be playing a nice clean D3 rather than a hacked up the arse game! Also on D3's real money AH, shrewd move... i like it.

    its not a big deal, unless your internet goes out unexpectedly it will suck when you cant play D3. but the upshot is no duping and therefore allows the real money AH to happen which is awesome.
