A 14 year old boy boy allegedly thought that he could put his Xbox 360 in water to keep it from heating. Well that's stupid. The console was wrapped in plastic and tape when the boy decided to put it in some water, but it was still plugged in. The boy was obviously shocked and got some small burns on his hands and feet. Amazing how stupid people can be these days.

A 14 year old boy from Brevard, North Carolina was nearly killed Sunday while trying to stop his Xbox 360 from overheating.

The boy’s mother told local news that his Xbox 360 kept turning itself off after about 5 minutes. Her son had read online that he could stop it from cutting off by cooling the power supply. “I saw him put the cord on top of a box in the living room”, said the boy’s mother. “When I left to go next door he was playing a game but when I got back he was laying on his back on the floor and unconscious”.

Kids like this deserve to get electrocuted.

When I was 13 I almost tried to put off an electrical fire with water when I remembered that lesson in Physics. See, studying is useful... sometimes. I've done a lot of stupid things but nothing gets close to that. My Sega console was overheating often, why didn't I think of that

How stupid do people get these days?

Not the smartest thing to do...

Did the bag leak or something though? If it was sealed in a plastic bag, it shouldn't have electrocuted him?

Well, if it was a regular grocery bag, those always seem to have little holes in them, but if he used a garbage bag, he might have been alright...

    Stupid, either way...

Well, it was plugged in, and thus, there will obviously be a open spot in the bag. Nevertheless, why would anyone do such a thing. It's so stupid and all it takes is common sense. I mean, he's 14 and even a 8 year old should know not to play with water and electricity at the same time.

Wow...could this stupidity get any worse? Instead of cooling the XBox 360 in water (it was plugged in, this makes it worse), shouldn't he just have stopped using it while waiting for it to cool down?

It's called addiction my friend. Too glued to it he couldn't stop for an hour or so. Either that or he's really, really stupid (that's been said too much). Or it could be both.

It's amazing how eager the boy was, to play Xbox and how unaware he was about the danger of his actions. Oh well.

I blame it on the parents.

Edit: Despite the thumbs down I just got, I insist its their fault. Parents should teach their children about everything. They are supposed to pass on their experience.

Maybe the kid's parents did the same thing with a toaster. You never know.

This reminds me of the article where the person pissed on his PS2 and got shocked. Idiots unplug the console first. Even if they did the system itself would be fried by this move.

Part of me blames the education system in North Carolina.

Apparently they never taught this kid how to read warning labels on electronic devices that talk about it and water and that electricity plus water equals danger.

Don't mock the education system in North Carolina, it only sucks in Charlotte..

Someone give me a map though, don't think Brevard's that far from here, but hell if I know how to get there.

Hey, the education system is California isn't that great either. When your school would rather spend $80,000 on palm trees than equipment for the drama department, it's not perfect.

My, my. I see he's a smart one...

Really, he's 14, he should know that Electricity+Water=Bad. Pokemon should have taught him that years ago. It's just common sense. Amplifying the current's power is not going to stop it from overheating.

At least he's still alive. I hope they don't try to sue Microsoft for this or something >_>...

This just proves that the 360 is better, I'd like to see a PS3 fan risk his life to keep playing. Humpf.

And this is why parents should keep an eye on their kids.
