Bioware confirms the official exit of Commander Shepard, stating that he will not be appearing in any other Mass Effect games and that this final entry in the trilogy will be his swansong.

Wave bye bye to Commander Shepard. The space-hopping, Reaper-killing, renegade or paragon galactic hero will not return for any more games after Mass Effect 3, although Bioware is claiming it is not the end for the Mass Effect franchise itself.

no crap. they said back when ME2 came out i think, that ME would be a trilogy, or at the very least Shepard would only have 3 games, if they decided to make more later. its Dragon Age that they havent put a specific limit on.

obviously at least 1 of the choices at the end of ME3 will be Shepard sacrificing him/herself to save lots of people, or if not death something else that would dispose of them. i just hope its not something lame like retirement.

They actually said it before the first game came out, but there's no way they're done with Mass Effect, maybe for awhile and certainly with the Shepard/Reapers arc.
