The controversy over violent video games following the trial of a sailor has continued to fuel debate.
The incident occurred in April on the submarine HMS Astute. One officer died, another was wounded and two more were shot at. Yesterday, it was reported how gamers had initially responded after a variety of newspapers had quoted the prosecutor in the trial as saying the gunman had 'started talking about Grand Theft Auto'.
Following the initial wave of disapproval from the gaming press, more bloggers and sites have added their views to the matter. Responses were mixed, but generally disagreeing. Screw Attack described the series as getting a 'bad rap', and said that although the gunman had been the one who introduced the link, it wasn't, in the author's opinion, a 'relevant factor' in his decisions. Lazygamer said the series had been 'fingered as the agitator', and that it was 'frustrating to see video games labelled as the main instigator'. Meanwhile, as the story moved beyond the UK, the press was again accused of making the series a scapegoat, with many criticising the British tabloids and claiming they had painted video games as the villain.

Comments
Usually the people involved in this are either stupid or susceptible to the violence already. So you know what? Maybe the military should be stricter on their psyche evaluations and not let the media blame EVERY little thing on entertainment.
