Warhawk Takes Up 800MB Of Space

xsynergyx | August 26, 2007 | News | Playstation 3
Someone on the Playstation 3 forums has been talking about how he recently got Warhawk and when he started it up and installed it, he noticed it took up nearly 800MB of space. If you want to save more space on your hardrive, don't bother with the blu-ray.
I started the game up and the first thing it did was install itself to my hard drive. After checking it reserved 789MB for itself. So for those of you hoping to save some space, don't bother with buying the blu-ray.

Meh, with the size of the PS3's HDD I wouldn't worry too much about it. At least for now.

    I'll be downloading it anyways.

If you want to save space, then don't get the Blu-Ray? I don't get it. Is this 800MB of cache?

It makes sense, people that are going to be playing straight from their HDDs because they downloaded it are going to have faster caching and stuff and since Warhawk is centered around multiplayer that's a pretty big deal.

I still would like to actually own the game in disc forum unless it's more expensive.

How much does it take up if you just download it though?

Probably 8GB or more. I don't really see much of a disadvantage of just having it on disc, downloading is usually around the same price anyway.

And isn't 800MB REALLY small? I don't understand this news fully.

It's just over the capacity of a CD.

    Surely 800mb is a waste of a 25gb Blu-Ray?

I think he meant literal space for the disc case.

I think he is figuring that if the blu-ray version loads 800 MB onto your hard drive...the game itself cant be more than 9 gigs...so it could be done on the xbox 360 or a DVD9, instead up using a 25 gig blu-ray disk

The downloadable version will be $20 cheaper then the Blu-Ray version. Although the Blu-Ray version comes with a Headset.

I'll still be getting the Disc though. 800MB is not extreme. I can't afford 8GB with the Downloadable version. 8GB will leave me with jusy 25GB on my HDD.

I'd prefer to have around 800 MBs of space spent than entire GBs. I don't get this, is the author COMPLAINING about this???

Yeah I agree. What's the big deal here?? 800MB is indeed a lot of space but it's better then 8GB.

Wait what. You guys are all confusing me with your Gigs and Mega bytes. Okay so is the downloadable only 800MB? Thats not to big. Thats fine. So doesn't that mean the version on the CD will only be 800MB too? Why are you all saying 8GB?

no no no...The downloadable game is going to be 8GB

The blu-ray version is going to cache 800mb to your hard drive for easier access

Where has it been confirmed that the game is 8GB big?

    Seeker X | August 27, 2007
Aye, the size hasn't been confirmed anywhere. But it WOULD make sense if the Blu ray version uses a smaller game/file size than installing the whole thing.

How the hell do they expect us to download a 8GB file? the beta was only 700 megs. Why is this so big. You guys are confusing me.

    *sighs*

I was only asking 'cause Incidnia mentioned it above and people starting mentioning it as if it were truth.

Nah. But that's the kind of size I would expect a game of this size and detail to be.

    It's why I said 'probably'.
