Creative Director Mark Healey says that because you can pimp out your character with "stickers" imported from the PS3 hard drive, a character in Mario or Katamari gear is fairly straight forward to put together.

Remember those old concept pics showing Mario, Master Chief and Katamari Damacy in LittleBigPlanet? Well it looks like it's entirely possible to have them in the final game yourself.

"That was just early concept art," creative director Mark Healey informed CVG, "but you can customise your character so much that that's entirely possible." Our LBP character's going to have a nice set of Master Chief armour then...

Healey says that because you can pimp out your character with "stickers" imported from the PS2 hard drive, a character in Mario or Katamari gear is fairly straight forward to put together.

Will this sort of content wind Sony into trouble? Healey says the company is going to rely mostly on the game's community to moderate dodgy content. "It's hugely important," he said, "the first thing I'd do is make a big cock and publish it, but clearly we can't allow that."

I was very confused when I read the headline, but it makes sense now. It'll be interesting to see what people come up with. Veutiful Joe would look good in this game too.

I wonder if they will have safeguards to stop copyright infringements?

I don't think they can...cause your not making an identical replica of Mario or any other character...it is just a little thing who resembles the character

It is like when the guy made a Zoidberg on a Mii character...They really have no way of copyrighting that

    Who knows though...

A Tommy Vercetti sack boy sounds interesting too.
I still don't quit understand how stickers would enable us to make any character we want. Stickers are 2D, placing a Tommy Vercetti image on Sack Boy will just make hime look stupid because the illusion will only work if looking at him from the front. His back won't look like Tommy Vercettis back.

I'm curious to see how this is gonna work.

The stickers are essentially used as texture maps. You can't take a picture of Tommy Vercetti and just wrap the whole thing around a character in the game (unless of course that is a feature), but you can take pieces of clothing that would resemble him. Any anyway, from the picture above, it doesn't look like you can edit their faces.

    Never thought of that.

I do wonder if this will get Sony and MM into trouble though. I doubt Nintendo will be pleased to see Mario running around in a PS3 exclusive game.

I was just about to mention that, Mnmfan. Then again, Snake is going to be in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, so maybe they'll let this one slide, heh.

I don't think Nintendo really can sue. Mario is entirely user-created, and companies can't be held responsible for user-created content. There was a game that did it before (I think it was called Graffiti Kingdom or something similar).

By the way, Snake was requested by Konami, so it's a different story. He isn't owned by Sony. However, most of the games appear on Sony consoles.

Very interesting. LittleBigPlanet is an incredible game. It seems fun just to toy around with. It's games like these that make me wonder, what would it look like if Mario and old Snake (from MGS4) had a child? How about Katamari and Master Chief? If it lets you light them on fire like the Sims, then this game is a winner.

Well yeah I get that, but MGS was primarily on the Sony consoles...it's not like Sony and Microsoft create their own characters or anything like Nintendo does.
