CFCC is the next group to protest against Manhunt 2's upcoming release, this time angry about ESRB's new 'M' rating that allows the game to be released on it's respective consoles.

The Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood is extremely concerned that the ESRB has downgraded its rating for Manhunt 2 from Adults Only (AO) to Mature (M). Despite industry claims to the contrary, M-rated games continue to be marketed and sold to children under seventeen. The ESRB’s reversal of its earlier decision dramatically increases the likelihood that Manhunt 2 – the most violent game to date produced for the interactive Nintendo Wii platform – will be marketed and sold to children.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who things this is ridiculous. These guys are fighting the new rating with...misinformation? They don't seem to acknowledge that Manhunt 2 had to be toned down quite significantly, and since when were M rated games marketed towards children? M rated games also cannot be sold to children under 17, either. Doing so is against the law, on the retailer's part. Their argument is terribly flawed, it appears to be aimed at censorship more than protecting children. They don't want the game to come out at all, regardless of content. Not every game has to have flowers and puppies, CFCC, and not every game is a child's game.

Yes, CFCC is bitching up a storm yet again! Stop your damn whining CFCC, it's not going to be marketed to kids in any way, shape, or form without parents. Just stop with this childish vendetta with Take Two and thier games that are meant for MATURE adults

Sadly groups like this fuel themselves on establishing that they are the controllers of media to the consumer. Just as so many bodies protest the broadcast companies, you have these groups on top of the gaming industry.

These people protest that this game is too violent, so the company changes it.

Then the people complain now that it is toned down?

I agree. The CFCC needs to shutup. They changed it so just be happy and stop bitching about everything. Younger people are still going to get it, regardless what you do.

Do they realise that in trying to BAN the game from being released, when it IS released, more people WILL buy it just because they want to see the game that was "almost" banned. If their protests work, then fine for them, but they never ever work, and so they are really just making it worse for themselves if anything. Remember, there's no such thing as bad publicity... unless of course your Gerald Ratner....
