3r0t1c n3rd of Destructoid has written an article, concerning the issue in Germany and why so many games have been banned from there. He says that Germany is probably sensitive to violence due to the holocaust and that Germany is constantly accusing games for violent things that kids do like shoot up the school. In Germany, every game that allows you to kill someone, whether for good or evil, is a 'killer game'.

If they don't ban games, they edit them. In Germany, The Darkness was edited to an extent where the blood was completely wiped out. Games like BioShock and Tomb Raider had editing in blood, whether it was changing the colour or taking it out altogether. Far Cry was banned due to 'Rag Doll Physics', but most, like Gears of War and F.E.A.R. where banned for extreme graphical violence.

Well the first thing everyone in the englich speaking world thinks is, we are rigorous about violence because we lost the war. Well there is actually a bit more to that. It’s like the problem americans have with boobs and cursing.

To be honest, I don’t exactly know why we (as a country) are so pissed about violence, but I can list a number of reasons that support our angst about it. (But yes, we are probably very sensitive about violence, because of the whole holocaust thing.)

Well i think its more of a matter of that Germany just doesn't like games. I mean if violence games causes crimes and shooting than there would be more violence, But wouldn't that apply to movies and yet i don't see any violent movies being banned yet.

I say there more violent than games.

I think there's some kind of law in Germany which doesn't allow violence in games. [there's also a similar law which makes obligatory the dubbing process on series/movies]
