Ps3Vault put the PS3 to the test to see how long it can handle watching Blu-Ray Movies before crashing. They took an internal thermal gauge to measure the temperature of the PS3 every 23 hours. They sat for 6 days watching movies before the system crashed, but it turned out that the reason it crashed was because it got so hot, it melted the internal thermal gauge, which then fell onto the console board causing the PS3 to die.
After sitting back and really enjoying thrashing out the Ps3 for what it is a game console¯, we came to the conclusion that there really is more to this box than just playing games. It was time to really test the capabilities and enjoyment of watching blue ray movies.

After Six days of continuous movies we witnessed the slow degradation of quality of signal for the last 6 hours of movies and then the system crashed. Was it really possibly after the torture of the last tests on how to kill a ps3 console¯ that we had succeeded, keeping in mind that this was the same console. The console was completely dead. After further investigation we discovered the reason the console had failed was due to the internal thermal gauge¯ we had placed through the tray, the solenoid had melted itself to the console board and caused the killing of a PS3 console.

Most reasonable people won't keep the system playing movies for that many days, nor will they stick stuff inside it, and as a result, nothing can MELT onto the PS3, causing it to die >_>
I bet a Wii or 360 would never last 6 days
