Rare Talks Virtual Console

Rare talked about Nintendo's Virtual Console in their mailbag today. They hinted at the possibility of their games coming to the VC in the future. According to Rare, it's Nintendo's decision whether Rare games get released on the VC or not.

As for VC, it's ultimately Nintendo's decision what gets released. Beyond the DKC games we don't have anything in the pipeline at the moment, but that doesn't mean it won't happen in future.

    I read this earlier and Banjo Kazooie + Goldeneye would be amazing on the Virtual Console. If this happened I'd be very happy.

    A lot of fans have been wanting GoldenEye for sure. I know I would buy that along with the Banjo Kazooie games. Many have thought it near impossible though due to Microsoft owning Rare now.

    Ah! So there's a chance of our favourite Rare franchises/games to make it on virtual console.

    I'm already exciting to have Diddy kong Racing, Banjo, Goldeneye and Conker's Bad Fur Day soon enough.

    I TOLD you that it was Nintendo's decision!

    They own the rights and license to the game that they would be selling. They're not trying to sell it on a new console; they're selling, for instance, Perfect Dark for the N64, just in file form that the Wii can play.

      Yeah Nintendo is the owner of that game entirely. They just hired Rare to make DKC series for them.

    This is great news. Now if only Nintendo would hurry up and release Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. (and Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, and Conker's Bad Fur Day )

    If not on the VC, they should bring Goldeneye to the XBLA. And add online play to it. That would instantly be the hottest XBLA title for sure.

      How awesome would it be if Nintendo released Goldeneye as a WiiWare game and added online play to it? I would totally pay $10 for it. Even $15.

          Haha, I agree.

          And we wouldn't have to worry about lag, since the game is using 10 year old graphic technology. It would run nice and smooth.

          Man, Nintendo better make use of this opportunity.

    Yeah, Reggie has said that he's trying to AT LEAST get Goldeneye on the VC. If this was September's surprise then I'd be content.
