Super Mario 3D Land tops the Japanese sales chart for the week ending November 6. Uncharted 3 and Battlefield 3 were close behind, but the gap was pretty apparent. Is this the momentum shift that Nintendo has been looking for?

It’s no surprise to anyone that the Nintendo 3DS got off to a poor start around the world. With sales dwindling and interest fading, Nintendo made a bold move by reducing the price from $250 to $170 dollars. This move, coupled with the release of Ocarina of Time 3D, helped to get the system back on track. This week, with the launch of Super Mario 3D Land in Japan, the 3DS looks to take yet another step up the proverbial ladder. In what comes as a little bit of a surprise, Super Mario 3D Land topped the Japanese sales charts with an impressive 343,492 units. Could this be the momentum shift that Nintendo has been waiting for?
