In August the Wii has been outselling the PS3 by three to one. But the total in sales are the real story. PS3 is slowly catching up to the Wii. While its still down by 3:1, Its better than the 6:1 like a few months ago, while 360 is still taking a pounding in japan. Is this good news or bad for Sony, only time will tell.

The Wii has outsold PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 since its Japanese introduction in December on the success of ``Wii Sports'' and the ``Mario'' games. Nintendo held a four-to- one sales lead over Sony in July.

Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft sold 11,288 Xbox 360s in Japan in August, Enterbrain said.

Good for Sony, people will eventually get PS3 is truly next-gen... It has many titles that are interesting (at least for me) and Wii only has Metroid Prime...

    You're *bleep*ed finalblade.
Why are you trying to be some kind of newscaster, clearly it's not going to be bad news when the gap has been narrowed in half.

Hello just cause its 3:1 from 6:1 doesn't mean its good for sony, and yeah since im here i am a newscaster. I was trying not to say oh yeah Sony is going to pounce the wii now. Your kinda dumb for stating that you know.

Anyway, this is looking good for Sony I guess. Nothing monumental though.

Wow, I'm quite surprised by this.

The Wii is made and originated from Japan, yet Sony's PS3 can follow Nintendo's Wii in the market sales in Japan.

However, I always knew that the PS3 was bound to come up somewhere one day.

It's not really anything newsworthy. Bound to happen the Wii is going to slow down with the sales for a while. You have to be stupid to believe it won't slow down any time soon.

What? Obviously good news. Bad for Nintendo, but good for Sony since they've cut the difference in half. Time will tell? Well then the time is now. And the time says it's good news.

Anyways, nice job on Sony's part, whether it's the new games or promotions that led to more sales, but to be honest, I don't think we'll see the Playstation 3 ever catch up to the Wii.

Sorry, I didn't mean bad, but worse. Who wouldn't rather have a bigger lead than a smaller lead?

Nintendo's lead is getting bigger. It is just growing at a slower rate than a few months ago.

Good going Sony. I don't mind Nintendo selling more than Sony, they're a respectable company unlike Microsoft.

I don't doubt for one minute, that Sony will catch up with Nintendo. They've been ahead all this time, and I doubt they'll quit now.
