With all of the recent rumors about new consoles running around the internet these days, it's nice to see something fairly concrete come out of the mix. SCE president says there won't be a PS4 announcement at E3 this year.

that puts lots of pressure on microsoft. but at the same time it allows them to hold back on full details knowing others are not releasing them. so pro and con for the. microsoft should release there console before the others like they did with the 360 allowing there sale price to be cheaper.

Considering the problems they faced last time they wanted to come out first plus the fact that the WiiU is already slated to come out of 2012 since it's been in development for a long time I doubt they'll aim for a 2012 release. I even doubt a 2013 release.

I keep repeating that we won't see a new Playstation home console (in stores) until 2016, and people seem to think I'm nuts for saying it.

WHY WOULD THEY MAKE A NEW ONE!?!

it wont be THAT long, but certainly not this year and probably not 2013 either. so yeah, if anything there would be merely a miniscule hint at this E3 about the PS4, nothing more. im gonna say the same about the next Xbox too. both consoles this gen are still doing fine, its Nintendo that needs to pick up some more steam. Move and Kinect have really taken a toll on the uniqueness that the Wii had to offer.

Yes they are. It's not as though he'd say "yes, we are developing a new console, it's called the PS4... etc etc".

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not... but put it this way, when the PS3 was released it didn't have top end hardware (excluding the CPU), it's 6 years old now, that's some pretty ancient hardware you've got right there. One reason to release a new one is to keep pace with technology.

I meant from a business point of view. I don't particularly care enough about videogames to make an argument over it but if you're making a profit on something you don't plan to throw that out the window when it's still relevant to your market. PS3 has life in it yet, another few years I'd say, and any successor is more than likely in it's conceptional development. This is what I meant by why would they make a new one.

theres not much reason to when this gen is doing perfectly fine, people are still buying consoles and lots of games.
