In a statement issued today by THQ, the publisher has announced that they will be changing their current business strategy in regards to the type of games they focus on. The big change that THQ is making is that they will discontinue any attempt at producing casual or family friendly games. The company has declared that they will be terminating any relationships with entertainment companies that that specialize in these types of titles.
Instead of trying to provide a variety of games to drastically different audiences, THQ has announced that they will be focusing more on their core franchises and titles, citing the success of last year’s Saints Row: The Third as an example of why this is a wise decision. THQ has decided to focus all of its attention on its upcoming titles, such as Darksiders II, as well as their core franchises, such as Saints Row and Warhammer 40,000. The company hopes that this will turn things around them financially.

This month there were rumors spreading across the Internet that THQ was planning on cancelling its 2014 lineup of titles. The publisher quickly denied the claim, stating there was no truth to it. However, it now looks like THQ has decided to rethink their current business strategy and focus more on their “core video game franchises” as opposed to titles for casual or younger gamers. Read on for all the details.
