Which Console Exclusive Will Win This Holiday Season ?

ITANI | September 07, 2007 | News | Playstation 3 Wii Misc
So which console exclusive will win this holiday season? Will it be the much anticipated Super Mario Galaxy & Super Smash Bros Brawl exclusive to the Wii? Or the game with one of the largest fan base, a game called Halo 3 exclusive for the Xbox 360? While the Playstation 3 will have Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction release, will this game even come close to beating the games mentioned above? Only time will tell.
Will it be, Super Mario Galaxy from Nintendo and Super Smash Bros. Brawl which are both exclusive to the Nintendo Wii ? or will it be Halo 3, the very ‘highly’ anticipated exclusive title for Xbox 360 with already over a million pre-orders ? or could it possibly be the “Mass Effect,” a galaxy-spanning role-playing game from “Knights of the Old Republic” from developer BioWare? or can Insomniac’s make wonders with their “Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction” firs debut on the PS3 ?

I'm not buying it, but I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say Halo will sell the most copies. I'd definitely rather play UT3 on PS3.

Halo already has over a million pre-orders... That's the most pre-orders in videogame history. It doesn't take a genius to work out which game will sell the most copies.

My vote goes for... R&C, because thats the only title i played a game from its' series, though Mass Effect sounds nice.

Well lets see Halo 3, needs some new creative things that wasn't from Halo 2 to make me think its going to be top dog or better than its predecessors. But no doubt its going to get sales.

Super Mario Galaxy & Super Smash Bros Brawl will no doubt be hitting it up with vengeance. Hell Metroid prime 3 is already beating Bioshock right now do i sense a similar result against halo 3.

Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction is no doubt going to be huge, i don't know how well its going to fair against the other titles but Who knows, maybe the underdog can come through.
The first Ratchet and Clank was awesome. No doubt this will surpass its predecessors, what about Little Big Planet, i say that game is going to be huge.

I appear to be underestimating Ratchet & Clank...

Psh. Metroid beat Halo 3? That would be revolutionary. But I don't see it happening.

In my opinion, Metroid Prime has always been better than Halo, but we all know which well sell better. Metroid Prime didn't even reach 3 million sales, and Metroid Prime 2 was significantly less, and Hunters less than that. Metroid, for a first-party title, is a bit of a niche title. It doesn't have a huge fanbase, nor is it as geared to the mainstream gamer like Halo is. Halo 3 will definitely outsell Metroid Prime 3. In fact, it already has.

In terms of reviews, I'd actually think that Super Mario Galaxy has a high chance of being the highest rated. The press has been drooling over the game since E3 2006, even saying that the game is "practically perfect". However, all four will be very highly rated, I'm sure of it. How highly, I don't know. In terms of sales, I think that Halo 3 will probably sell the most, then Brawl, then Mario significantly lower and Ratchet and Clank at last. However, if current console sales trends continue at this rate, I believe Brawl could outsell Halo 3. However, Halo 3 will probably boost 360 sales significantly, so I wouldn't count on the sales rate to stay the same.

Oh i wasn't saying Metroid prime 3 would beat Halo 3, i was saying brawl and mario galaxy could do the same to halo 3 like MP3 to Bioshock.

Well, Brawl is actually possible. Likely? Well, it's hard to tell right now. It depends on how well the Wii and 360 sell until then. Super Smash Bros Melee did outsell Halo, but not Halo 2. Halo was at 5 million, Melee at 6 and Halo 2 at 8. If the Wii continues to outsell the 360 at it's current pace, Brawl outselling Halo 3 is actually very possible. However, like I said, chances are the 360 will have a spike up in sales due to Halo 3. However, many people want a Wii just for Brawl, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Galaxy will, most likely, not outsell Halo 3. Sunshine also outsold Halo, at 5.5 million units, but I don't think Galaxy will outsell Halo 3. I'm sure it will outsell Sunshine eventually, but it will only outsell Halo 3 if the Wii kills the 360 in sales in the long run, and I don't think that will happen. Perhaps continue to outsell, but the margin will have to be quite large for Galaxy to outsell Halo 3.

The operative word is Could outsell, i wasn't saying it will. But just to note the Wii games are selling crazy i believe Its 44.5 million sales for the wii games right now. So who knows Maybe brawl could and/or galaxy as well.

          I agree Gogetenks.

I agree Halo 3 will probably win, but Super Smash Bros is the only game I will get from that list, once thats out I don't care what happens

Halo 3 will sell the most, not that it deserves to but oh well

And by the way I'm pretty sure other games have got more than 1 million pre orders say like Final Fantasy?

I think that would most likely be either SSBB or Halo 3. SSBB and maybe Super Mario Galaxy will be the only ones I buy from that list.

Brawl and Halo are probably the biggest and most anticipated games for 2007. Halo does have a bigger fanbase, but Brawl's is pretty damn big as well. Still, Halo is Halo. People seem to go crazy for it.

not all people are buying just one copy though i myself am buying a copy of brawl but have paid off both my h3 reserves and personally know 8 other people that are buying two as well.

Why buy two, though? Unless you are planning to re-sell it or give it to someone, wouldn't it just be a waste of money? I'm not saying don't buy two, go right ahead, but I'm just curious as to why you'd want to buy two. I never quite understood why people do that (unless it's a console and they plan to put it on EBay).

Im going to guess that chaos means Two different copies Like for instance me buying Halo 3 and SSBB. Its not necessarily mean two copies of the same game.

Super Smash bros Brawl could win. Why? Because almost every Wii owner will buy it. Same goes for Halo 3, but since the Wii is still outselling the 360. Its very possible for Brawl to win.

no i meant two copies of one game since i have two consoles and guest come often but i only have one wii. thats also the reasoning behind the people i know and work with that are buyin two as well. but in terms of gameplay im lookin forward to ssbb more, pokemon trainer ftw

For the Wii, I think SSBB, Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 are all prime candidates. Uncharted, Devil May Cry 4, MGS4, and Ratchet and Clank would be for the PS3, and Halo 3, BioShock and Mass Effect could be runners for the 360. That's how I see it anyway.

I'm not sure if MGS4 is being released this year though. Someone fill me in?

      Nope, no MGS4 this year.

I'm going to take a shot in the dark here and say Super Smash Bros. Brawl has the potential to sell more copies then Halo 3.

I think the wii has the possibility of selling more games in general, but to single it out on just one game, it would probably have to Halo 3.

I don't know, Brawl has the potential to go very far. We are talking about two key online games here, and two key system sellers. Both have every chance.
