Aspyr Media have announced that Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is coming out for the PC and Mac this Fall. The game will feature over 70 songs and online head-to-head competition.

Aspyr Media announced today that they are publishing and developing PC and Mac versions of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, set to be released this Fall. Might as well, since the game is coming out for everything else…

The game will feature over 70 songs, unlockable content, and a head-to-head multiplayer mode. You’ll also be able to play against other PC gamers online. It seems like a weird system to play the game on, but now it’ll definitely be easier to get your custom songs on there and play them. YouTube will be overflowed with even more custom rock videos now!

Putting GHIII on PC can only mean one thing....users creating their own songs already been done on the ps2 but PC will be much easier.

Oh definitely. Almost makes me want to get it on the PC myself. I never did it on the PS2 cause I suck at technology and anything related, so I know I would mess it up. I don't even bother.

Yea, doing it for the ps2 is quite a bit of work. I'd love to do a game of it with my own songs but meh, cba :b

You will NEVER, NEVER, EVER make a custom song unless you miraculously re-record the song or have a master track available.

The feature is impossible to implement for that sole reason alone.

Listen to the songs without strumming. Do you hear the other instruments playing? The other elements that make up the song?

Now, I ask you, can your audio program split up those tracks from some random MP3 you own? Off your CD? Do you think Guitar Hero is capable of doing that?

    Absolutely not. It is impossible.

never? ever? impossible? I'm surprised to hear this comment from you since you're into the whole beatmania/ddr scene. Have you not heard of StepMania? same concept for GH. You don't need to record your own songs, that's just silly. You're being silly

        I'm sorry, I'm a troll?

Let me outline once more the very point you are overlooking:

        quote
Listen to the songs without strumming. Do you hear the other instruments playing? The other elements that make up the song?
Now, in these custom songs, what is heard when you don't strum?

Let me tell you two something. In the beatmania community, there's this thing called a keysound.

A keysound is essentially a part of a music track that is played when the button is pressed. The only difference is that, unlike Guitar Hero, beatmania has a sense of accuracy but that's irrelevant at the moment.

When you play Guitar Hero, when you successfully strum, the guitar track plays. If you miss or don't play, you can hear OTHER aspects of the track that make up the song.

Have you two stopped to think about how the developers recorded the guitar track SEPARATELY from the rest of the song? Is it finally dawning on you?

A MP3 or a track on a CD plays audio sound and that's it. Nothing special. The tracks on an MP3/CD do NOT have these seperate tracks.

I assure you that when you're playing a custom song, you're merely playing the song AS A WHOLE. If you're not strumming, there is silence. And a Guitar Hero song? You'll hear drums, vocals, the bassline, but NO SILENCE.

        So, who's the troll now?

You don't need it to mute the music when you're not strumming to enjoy playing the song. The fact that you're hitting the right notes and strumming while the music is playing = custom song = fun.

Frets on Fire is good enough for making custom songs even though it's not really state of the art as some people think it is.

I said no such thing. You really don't get it, do you?
