In a pre-TGS strike Irem today announced on their website that the Steambot Chronicles sequel is heading for the PS3. The original released last year scored good reviews and believed to be very innovative; the sequal could be even better. A trailer will be released at TGS but for now all we have is this one screenshot.

Last year about this time, Irem announced that Bumpy Trot 2 was in development for the PlayStation 2. With the PS3 just around the corner, we all wondered what they were thinking announcing a sequel for a current generation system.

Thankfully, there's apparently been some reconsideration at the Irem offices in Japan. Bumpy Trot 2 is now scheduled for PlayStation 3 release, according to the game's official website.

Nice, I loved Steambot Chronicles! Can't wait to see more of the sequel, though I am pleasantly surprised to see Irem try and tackle PS3 development. How far can they push it?

*bleep*ing A! Steambot Chronicles was really good. I'm hoping on more Trotmobile part variety, longer storyline, more free roaming, side quests, a BIGGER WAR (anybody remember the Desert War?)...maybe squeeze in some character customization? Vanilla was cool in SC1 but there was no room for any customization there.
