Jack Thompsons seems to think that there is a mission in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV where he is a target. A mission basically based around killing Jack Thompson, that's what he thinks. Since Nico's first mission is to murder a lawyer in GTA IV, Jack Thompson thinks it's him.

Plenty of gamers would give their left arm to be included in Grand Theft Auto IV.

Miami attorney Jack Thompson, however, claims that he’s depicted in the game and wants out. And he threatens to block the release of GTA IV if Rockstar doesn’t comply.

    Haha, nice one Rockstar.

Is it possible he could stop the release of GTAIV because of this?

HAHAHAHA!!! This is so friggin' rich! This reminds me of the time when he sued Midway because somebody made him in the Kreate a Fighter in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. Except this is funnier, and makes him look like even more of a blowhard.

    Hahahaha.

This just makes me want the game even more.

How very boring, honestly he was funny the first time, now its just boring. Won't he just die, whoops now he is going to get killed because some randomer on the Internet said something vaguely to the effect of 'someone should kill him'. Please don't sue me Mr. Thompson, wait, are the Thomps in Mario based on him, afterall the stomp down on video games. If so he should sue Sony because, more likely than not doesn't know who is who in the gaming world.

I'm actually surprised this hasn't happened sooner...

And there is no real info that suggests this 'lawyer' in the GTA IV game, is supposed to represent Jacko...Unless this lawyer has Jacko's personality (rabidly anti-gaming, and just plain delusional), he can't say that...

And yeah, I was going to mention, that he has some sort of agreement not to go after Take Two anymore (Take Two countersued him, and they made some sort of agreement not to sue eachother or something)...Idiot...

Seriously, if at all possible, we (gamers, and the media) should all attempt to ignore Mr Psychotic attention seeker, and hope he goes away, or commits suicide or something...

Nice going, Thompson, you just increased the GTA IV sales +%50 more.

Thompson makes me laugh. I guess if there is a lawyer in a game, it must be him. The lawyer in the game isn't even anti-video game, he is anti-second amendment. Your character is the one that says "video games kill people".

If there is a loose connection to be made between two items, you can bet Thompson will be there.

Even if that lawyer isn't him I would just imagine it is Jack just for sake of it. I like bashing Jack's skull with baseball bat .

God, will he just stop? It was funny at first, but no his attemps of banning video games are getting boring.

Ok, so now he just increased GTA'a sales. Good for him, really good for us.

I don't think he can do that. The game can depict lawyers however it wants, and it's perfectly legal. Chances are, unless he copyrighted his name, they could use the name Jack Thompson as well (seeing as both the first and last name are common).

They should call him Tom Jackson in game and just act oblivious to it.

    Glotnot Sep 18, 07
Haha, I could see Rockstar doing that.

Seriously though, Jack should have sued Rockstar for the other GTA's. They all depicted some kind of jackass with a big mouth, and yet Jack doesn't complain at all. But wait! GTA also had people in them! People obviously = Jack Thompson! SUE! SUE! SUE!

    God damn.

This is such a great marketing opportunity for Rockstar. I wasn't really planning on getting GTA IV, but I would definitely get a copy if it meant shooting Jack Thompson in a video game.

I'm a pedestrian who walks on public sidewalks I'm a target for attack in this game!

They'd have to go to some extreme extents to make this an even considerable case for the courts to acknowledge it. As far as this is concerned it could be any person in this generic scenario.

No way could there be a scenario where criminals have put a hit out on a real person, let alone a lawyer. That's just madness and if it has happened in the history of human existence it was because of the old stone carving GTA games.

    Final Blade Sep 19, 07
Wow i guess his paranoia is coming back or just being a fool. I don't think anyone cares that he is in the game or someone like him.

But being GTA im sure they could do scenario where there's a layer who hates games called Mack Johnson. See the similarity.

Im glad he did talk about GTA all he's going to do is increase sales for it, and Sony and 360 are glad to take an extra 50% increase .

How full of yourself do you have to be to see someone with the same profession as you get killed in a game and think that it must be you? OMG I have to kill a college student?! Rockstar you bastards put me in this game as a target???

Actually this was kinda implied earlier, one of the GTA4 previews said that when they pointed their gun at that lawyer in the mission he started yapping on about videogames killing people.

    Still a good joke

Oh no, a shooter. How dreadful; now it's going to corrupt all of America's children to Hell because video games suck. Now there's a generic old guy in a suit. It's obviously me; GTA wants to kill me, the bastards. I'm going to sue them for making a generic old person in this shooter game.
