Will Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden II for the Xbox 360 be hit hard with an Adults Only rating? Maybe not, but at the moment, it looks like it very well could. So why does it have to be so violent and go as far as having Hero Ryu Hayabusa, the main character in the game, repeatedly cut enemies in half and watch blood spew out? Well, Yoshifuru Okamoto, an assistant producer at Tecmo's Team Ninja says that entertainment requires two things. Sexual elements and violence.
No, they don't want to influence it,(calm down Jack Thompson) but instead, they want to show you how deadly some situations can get, so you must defend yourself at all costs. Ah yes, the sexual elements? Rachel from the first game is gone, but no worries, there is another girl filling in that Okamoto confirms to have large breasts.

Okamoto said the eventual rating a game will get isn't of much concern when development begins. He also raised the possibility of producing localized versions of Ninja Gaiden II to comply with local ratings, although followed with a suggestion that he doesn't want to change his game for such purposes.

Ahhh, will there be a 'hot tea' scene? (No coffee in ancient Japan...I dunno how close to modern times, the games are set to)

The games are literally modern. Takes place maybe a year or two before DOA.

I never agreed with extra blood/gore/sex/etc just for shock value. If it fits, then fine, but the statement that entertainment requires sex and violence is ludicrous to me. Getting an AO rating would just give the suits more reason to attack the game industry, while Tecmo would sit back and feel like they accomplished something. The more reasons people have to blame games for something, rightfully so or not, the worse it would be for all of us gamers.

What does it matter? The 360 is publishing it, right? So this game will be released no matter what the rating. Doesn't affect me, I fit the age requirement

Here's hoping that Microsoft steps up to the plate and releases it. I really think Sony and Nintendo made a mistake by not releasing Manhunt 2 on their systems. It's one thing for Jack Thompson to push for shit like that. But for someone within the industry especially those who make the industry possible, to not release a game because it's AO. It sends the message that games should be looked at different then movies and TV.
