Once again, Jack Thompson continues his vow to block "violent" video games that he deems to be offensive to the public and corrupts children. What's the game this time? Halo 3. And it's only days away from release. He plans to convince a Florida court that Halo 3 is a "public nuisance" and to have it blocked from being released in Florida.

With the video game event of the year - the Halo 3 launch - just days away, game-hatin’ attorney Jack Thompson is apparently seeking to re-create one of his greatest non-triumphs.

Although he failed miserably with a similar bid against Rockstar’s Bully in 2006, Thompson hopes to have a Florida court declare Halo 3 a public nuisance. He promised as much late last year (see: Jack Thompson Vows More Public Nuisance Suits Against Games in 2007).

No surprise, really, that Halo 3 is in the media-hungry attorney’s crosshairs. Thompson seems to prefer rattling his saber when high-profile game releases are involved. In his latest attention grab Thompson has released the text of what appears to be a court filing in the 11th Circuit, the same jurisdiction in which he failed embarrassingly during last year’s Bully case.

Once again, Thompson is basing his claim on a Florida statute which defines public nuisances as that which:

…tend[s] to annoy the community, injure the health of the citizens in general, or corrupt the public morals

…tend[s] to annoy the community, injure the health of the citizens in general, or corrupt the public morals.

How on earth can anyone say if Halo 3 is a public nuisance if it hasn't even been released to the public yet? I'll get a good laugh if the court actually listens to that crap!

It's interesting that the Halo series apparently "annoys the public" ... and yet still[i] manages to have huge sales [i]and warrant two sequels. Ha!

Yep, it's about time for another Jack Thompson fiasco. When is Florida just going to disbar him? He's such a hypocrite. Apparently, he only thinks the first amendment applies to religion, more specifically Christianity...

    Oh my freaking god.

You would think that after all these years and video game releases that Jack Thompson would realize that nobody gives a shit about whatever he says and that it would be a happy day on Earth when he finally shuts the hell up.

I think the judge will rule him a Public Nuisance and send him into exile.

      If only....if only...

He was something to laugh at the first couple of times, but now...he is just like that annoying kid who won't shut the hell up about how he is right, and everyone else is wrong...

JT: My judge, jury, and fellow American's, I am here today to hopefully convince you to ban Halo 3. It has not even been released yet nor have I seen any images, videos, or played the previous games but I AM SURE that this scourge will turn our precious children into gun wielding insane rampaging crack pots just by looking at the case itself. We cannot let this happen! These kids will rampage our towns, we've seen it before with every killing in history even though games haven't been around for all of history! You gotta stop this release or we will all die! I am a man of God and God agrees with me cause I said so, that way I can hide behind religion and give people more reason to hate me so you MUST ban it, QUICK! Thank you.

*bleep*ing seriously, I'm guessing thats the kinda speech he'll be giving and honestly, with how many times he's tried something like this I wonder if he'll even get past the first five words. All I can say damn I'm glad to be far far away from that crack-pot...

Jack Thompson should die. Really. All he is doing is over-criticizing games he shouldnt even bother with.

OMG, Halo 3 teaches kids to kill Aliens and to dress in green! The game is a nuisance my ass.

They're aliens. Aliens should die. Did you see what they did to Earth? But hey, if Jack Thompson wants aliens to come and destroy the planet, that's fine with me. Just offer yourself up first when the Covenant land.

I'm actually in Florida for the weekend. Maybe I'll go find good ol' Jack and end his career early, permanently..then blame it on a video game.

Oh, Jack you silly goose you.

Don't you want the youth of today to be prepared for the inevitable alien invasion that will come long after you die?

@ Guticb - Surprised no-one has yet...I guess us wacko gamers have more self restraint than he gives is creditfor...

@ Raziel - I'm sure thats why he isn't dead yet...Well that, and most rational people (who are gamers), know he isn't worth it...

I think it's fairly obvious that Jack failed... Again. Perhaps they'll listen next time if he tries to get himself arrested for being a public nuisance to gamers.
