Rock Band retails to the tune of $170 on Nov. 23

SwiderMan | September 28, 2007 | News | Playstation 2 Playstation 3
Rock Band is going take on the Guitar Hero series in a battle of the bands when it hits stores on November 23. The match-up is going to be much more interesting now that the game will sell for $170 instead of the rumored $200. Even better, Rock Band will play for las-gen PS2 for the also cheap price of $160.
The price of starting your own band just got a lot more affordable, as Rock Band will retail for $170. Originally, the price was rumored to be $200, so the $30 discount is killer news for everyone that wants to rock out on their PS3 or Xbox 360. Harmonix is treating PlayStation 2 owners like rockstars, too. A $160 PS2 edition of the game is coming before the end of the year. That’s supposed to hit stores on December 10, while the PS3 and 360 versions go on sale on Nov. 23. So there you have it; $170 to take your Guitar Hero skills to the next level. You won’t have to charge people so much for your first gig, now.

Game, Guitar, Drums and Microphone... Guitar doubles up as Bass considering they can both use the same format.

But it is a awful lot for just one game and if that price is in Amercian is will probably be closer to $220 for us here in Australia

hmmm maybe they'll break it down into individual pieces too considering you're really going to need a few extra people to be able to do this. Or at least make your buddies fork over some cash...

I wasn't contradicting myself. My first comment was directed towards Bandito Attack. While my second was stating it was however extremely higher than a normal game

Yeah right, as if Rockband will make you into an actual proper popular band. It's a novelty just like Singstar. Nothing comes of it.

$170 is waaay to much. Can't believe they think that's cheap.

Why bother? Why not just play that damn instrument IRL?

      1. I do.
      2. more expensive to play real instrument.
      3. Much steeper learning curve (even with lessons which would add to the cost)
      4. goes along with it. but this = instant gratification.

Are the drums actually going to be like a drum set? or do they give you like a little snare thing or whatever?
I'd rather get Guitar Hero for 80 bucks

The drums are four pads and a kick pedal. They're supposed to be pretty close to the actual size of a kit. They don't look like what you would expect from an actual globe touring rock band, but they supposedly get the job done. And I'm guessing one or two 3rd parties will make a set that looks like one you'd be proud to put up on stage.

Does the $170 include the guitar? It better or else it is a rip-off. Even if it does come with the guitar it still seems expensive. I'd rather get a PsP with a couple of games.
