UK gamers have been waiting months for this moment and its finally arrived.
Sony has officially announced that on October 10th a 40GB PS3 will be released at the price of £299 (( Around the same price as an Xbox 360 Elite - I know which I would rather have now )).
On a little low note though, this 40GB model will have no backwards compatibility, but this should be no issue for Sony fans who already own a PS2 ...
Also announced was a price cut for the 60 GB model, which will now be priced at £349, which will get you a 60 GB PS3 console, 2 Controllers and 2 first party titles !

Is that good enough for you ??

The much-talked about 40GB PS3 will be hitting UK stores on October 10 for £299, Sony has finally confirmed.

The existing 60GB model will also see its asking price slashed down to £349, which will come with two first-party games.

    No backwards compatibilty... me sad

If they had compatibility then i'd trade in my PS2 and most of my (unwanted/liked) games and fork over alot of money but sadly i won't... Wii's the only console for me

I don't give a crap for backwards compatibility but I understand why some would.

Sales are probably going to triple after this

$300 for a PS3 is truly a bargain. I wish I had waited instead of rushing to get the 60GB model.

Holy crap, that's a good deal. Well deserved, too. Sony should have made a worldwide price cut, imo, but at least this will increase sales.

Wow, what a nice deal. I still don't think I will buy a PS3 yet, but the bargain is something to consider.

Finally, they are cutting the price of the system in the UK, but I need them to cut it here in the US. Then I when I save up enough I can get it earlier then usual. I think thats a good deal in UK.

Nice to see us UK consumers not getting jipped as usual.

I ain't buying one any time soon, but that's only because I prefer the games on Wii/360. Still, a good deal.
