Every few months it is time to read the tea leaves and try to decipher what is going on in the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray “format war”. With all of the recent pronouncements from both camps in the last few months, the sales numbers and the endless PR BS from both sides, I have made several observations and have come to several conclusions.

    This is funny, honestly. I predicted this some time ago, just before the war began. It wasn't that difficult, considering the mentality that so many people adhere to. Personally, I myself have no interest in making the jump to either. Heh...

    I would probably stay with regular DVDs if I didn't have a PS3. I didn't used to buy DVDs and still don't buy BD movies.

    Too bad the same happened with DVD at first. VHS sales still killed DVD at the beginning. It's funny how people like to conveniently forget the past.

    While I agree with the above, I still gotta admit that not much is different between BD/HD-DVD and DVD itself. Until the tide of HDTVs become a "consensus" in a way, HD formats are not exactly going to be popular any time soon.

    I mean I bought 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later both on DVD when I could've bought them for Blu-ray. Not only is the DVD a lot cheaper, but I also lack a HDTV.
