I knew that the 40 gb thing would help. More space= more fun, more fun= bigger demand, bigger demand= more money, etc etc. It is like a chain. I can't believe that it nearly doubled after this thing came out, but I just knew it would help. Good for Sony, stepping it up a bit.

How long can they keep the sales up like this. Thats what matters. Is it just a burst of sales for the this week alone or can we see the same results the next couple of weeks.

It's good to see that Sony are having a good amount of success now. It was just a matter of time in my opinion.

Meh, everytime there's a new PS3 package out, we got a bitching bandwagon...at least this shuts ONE bandwagon up.

I haven't following how the Playstation 3 and how well it has been doing lately...well, I've never done that, but seen some GameGrep articles. Anyways, I don't know if they've goten a boost in sales until now. I guess it's finally picking up.

Wow, that is a significant drop. Hopefully Australia will ahve something like that soon. I'm still going to wait until it's <$500

It has dropped in Australia. Its now $700 for the 40GB which is a pretty good deal compared to the $1000 60GB version

    Great move by Sony.

I didn't think they would benefit from the price drop this much.

It seems it actually wasn't the 40GB responsible for the rise in sales.

This doesn't surprise me one bit.
Actually I lie, with the release of Halo 3 I thought the 360 sales would go through the roof.
So PS3 outsold the 360 even though it has no 'must have' games at the moment unlike the 360. Just imagine what it's going to be like when a 'must have' game gets released like MGS4.
