Director of NCsoft thinks that Home won't sell the Playstation 3, but the Playstation 3 needs a large install base to help Home be a success, so without this Home will be limited in terms of community. He continues saying that if Sony hopes for Home to sell PS3's then Home should be capable of introducing something more significant than just customisable avatars.

NCsoft director talks about why they chose the system Playstation 3 to release their MMORPG on it. It was because the PS3 will have a long lifespan and they wanted their upcoming MMORPG to last as long as it can.

NCsoft's director of product development believes Home's fortunes are dependent on PlayStation 3's installed base, and not the other way around.

Who cares whether Home sells PS3's?

    We have MGS4 for that

What does Sony have after MGS4, aside from Final Fantasy?

I've heard a few parents are going to buy PS3's just for Little Big Planet.

Lets see Warhawk, Ratchet and Clank, Eye of Judgement, Gran Turismo 5, Resistance Fall of Man 2, Motorstorm 2, Folklore, White Night Story, LA Noir and that's just the beginning

I disagree with this article though. Sony already have 5 million potential players of Home and this will be a huge selling point for them

He said after MGS4, so Warhawk and Folklore don't count.

I don't think any one feature/game is going to sell the console. When it builds a hefty game library sells will increase.

I never expected Home to sell the console. It's just not the kind of thing that gets people wanting to wait in line for hours to get. Really, I've never seen a game sell a console, although Halo 3 came pretty damn close with a lot of my friends.

It'll certainly add appeal, but it's cetainly not a major console seller. It's not "mainstream" enough to do that.

I also think it wont sell the PS3.

I think it will be fun for a while then it will get pretty boring.
But others might feel differently about it, and might get it for Home.

Home might not spark a huge influx of sales, but it's hardly about to harm sales is it?

Personally I don't think Home was ever intended as a system seller. It was intended to give players a better way of hooking up online.

As for "games coming after MGS4", currently, there isn't anything for any platform being conceptualized after that point in time. Not for PC, not for 360, not for Wii, and not for PS3. Everyone is still working on today's games, not next year's.

WTF does this post have to do with the article? And aside from that, it makes no *bleep*in' sense!

I'm not saying what? because you clearly don't care to use proper punctuation, I'm saying what because...what?

Home doesn't have to sell PS3s. By Spring, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, Haze, UT3, MGS4, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, and yes even Home will be available. I think those games might sell a few consoles here and there. Later, Sony will have FFXIII, God of War III, GT5, Infamous, and exclusives from R* and Epic. Everything I just named are only the big titles. There will be plenty in between to attract non-hardcore gamers too. The community should be strong enough after all that. To say that Home needs more than customizable avatars in order to make sales is ridiculous. It clearly has much more to offer, so I can't say I agree with the article in the least.
