RF Online cancels subscriptions and is now free to play

Have you ever wanted to play an MMO with mechs? well, RF Online has that certain robotic-esq feel to it. Albeit, it's no Gundam that's for sure.

Codemasters has changed their pricing for the game from buying the game + monthly subscription to free + free. Available to download is the game and its expansion.

When you set up your account it's listed as a "trial account" and you receive a key to activate the game. However, once activated the account becomes a full fledged account. At the moment the CM site will still list your account type as a 10 day trial. However, this is false.

    Interesting, I spent some time at it looks like it is 100% free as they advertised. I suspect it won't stay this way forever so download and play while you can!

    After all, staff and game servers cost money, so this game can't be 100% free forever.

      I think there's an item shop that sells things for real money. That's how most free MMOs make a profit these days. Besides, I'm sure they have a rather significant safety net after about a year of being pay-to-play only.

    Interesting, I guess. I downloaded it. Might as well take advantage of it, if it's completely free. It sounds like a pretty decent MMO, so I'll try it out in a little while.
