Rumor: Nintendo developing new Pokemon RPG for the Wii

ITANI | October 21, 2007 | News | Wii
A rumour is floating around that a Pokemon RPG is being developed for the Wii. This isn't really a surprise it was just a matter of when. There has not been a Pokemon RPG on the Wii yet because Nintendo wanted to push trading on other systems as much as possible.
According to internet reports, an un-named developer of the Pokemon game franchise has revealed that a Pokemon RPG title for the Wii is in the works although it is not yet known whether this will be a sequel to Pokemon Battle Revolution. According to the dev, there has been no Pokemon RPG for the Wii recently as Nintendo wanted to push Pokemon trading on other platforms as much as possible before handing that over to the Wii.

Yeah me too, I wonder. It'd probably be something like paper mario 1 and 2 but not 3.

I'm not much of a Pokemon fan. Althrought, this idea intrigues me.

A Pokemon RPG seems fun. I would probably atleast try it, to see if it changed.

First of all, this Pokemon "RPG" better be like the *bleep*ing Pokemon games on the handhelds. That means battling gym leaders, collecting badges, capturing with Pokeballs, the S.S Anne and the like. I don't want this next "Pokemon RPG" to go the way of Pokemon Colliseum or some crap like that.

Second of all, if this is truly like I want it to be, then the game should have some online play.

But How is Diamond and Pearl isn't it the same, i mean why would this be any different, besides the controls.

I totally agree with you Jaw Knee. Those games would have so much more potential on a console. If this comes out, I am definitely going to buy it ASAP.

Eh, I'll wait and see. I think they should keep it on the handhelds, because that is where it has done the best. Look at XD and kind of Collosseum, they didn't work out.

You'd wonder how much they can squeeze out of one series. But yet it's still one hell of a popular game, so if they can then why not? Good luck to them!

Personally, I'd rather they stuck to developing their RPG's on their handheld.
Pokemon is a casual game and I'd prefer to be able to play it whenever I want on the move, rather than having to put time aside to play in on my Wii.

Its nice to see that the Pokemon ball is still rolling - I'm still not sick of Pokemon yet

... and as bbb said ; Remake of Gold and Silver Please !

Wow, that's awesome. I pretty much creamed myself when I seen. Hopefully it's a sequel to XD: Gale of Darkness, though. I'd much rather see a Gold/Silver remake on the DS. Overall, Pokémon RPGs on a handheld are much more enjoyable than on a console.

Yay!! I hope they do this. I liked Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness and never really got the chance to play Colliseum, but they're both pretty decent games. As long as they have a good enough storyline, then I'm with it, seriously. I liked those games, there were a few flaws, but still.. I think they can pull them off again and being on the Wii, could be very intesreting and obviously broadens the horizons a lot more, and they could add so many new, and cool features ;D.

Now, I'm not very much into Pokemon so excuse me if I seem a little out of it, but hasn't an RPG for pokemon been promised since the dawn of time or thereabouts?
