There has been some rumors that a new SKU of the XBox 360 would be released with HD-DVD built in to the Console. Toshiba appears to squash those rumors.

Toshiba has rubbished reports that it is currently working with Microsoft on an Xbox 360 with a built-in HD DVD drive.

Rumours surfaced last week, but an unnamed Toshiba exec has now stated that Toshiba is not involved in any such hardware developments.

If the HD-DVD system is released, it will most likey be released in either a small shortage or in exclusive areas.

I personally believe this rumor was started by an outsider on some random website, but I may be wrong.

Too bad it would so help MS, even though it wouldn't help much in terms of the format wars it would help boost sales of the system.

I have been waiting for a 360 to have the HD-DVD built in to buy one. I think it is only a matter of time before it happens.

The cost of the system would be comparable with the PS/3, like it is now if you buy the accessories to bring a 360 up to the capability of the PS/3

Personally, I hope that there built-in HD-DVD players doesn't happen. Or there should at least be different packages indicating which have them and which don't.

Unless Microsoft plans to move up in the development of games by having them in HD DVD format, I wouldn't count on them implementing a HD DVD drive in the Xbox 360. Perhaps in a future console, but not the current one.
