Wii gets Spore, and Will Wright says Wii are the only next-gen console

black doom | October 27, 2007 | News | Playstation 3 Wii
So, the Wii gets Spore, something I am glad to hear as a self aware fanboy, but apparently Wright is acting like one too. I don't mind what he is saying about the other consoles since it is his opinion, but does he realise how much flaming this whole 'the Wii is not a / is the only next gen console' causes? It is just nonsense at this point in my opinion.
In the interview with The Guardian newspaper, Wright confirmed, “We’re doing Spore on Wii,” ending much speculation on whether the much-anticipated title would be appearing on Nintendo’s latest box of tricks.

Wow, I thought this was supposed to be some huge game. I wouldn't think it could fit on a single disc...bluray or otherwise.

What format do you think its going to be on for PC? And you really think it wouldn't fit on a Blu-Ray disc?

Do you even know how big blue ray disks are?

are you insane? Blu-Ray discs carry up to 25gb of memory, and if you need double layered its 50gb, Icompared to dvd9 which is just 9gb. Seriously dude, do reseaerch.

Blue Dragon wouldn't fit on a single disc and they're going to make Spore on one...

edit. Of course I know how big a blue ray disc is. Granted I did word that weird... I meant it as Blu-ray or nothing. Last I checked Wii wasn't blu-ray so I wouldn't think it'd fit.

        What's with all the hate?

Ah well this sucks. I really wanted this game. This game would have been great on the 360/ps3 too.

Don't worry, it seems it will still be released for those.

Wait, I just thought of something, the person who gave you a thumbs down could be using a Wiimote very badly on the net. After all even with the eventually out standing accuracy it can be hard to work at first.

I agree with Zero, the Wii needs more titles!

I'll buy it. I don't care if it's released for other systems, nor do I care if it's on more than 1 disc. You would think that making Bluray so exclusive would at least make it's capacity larger?

Well I disagree with it going on other consoles, either its a Wii title or no go, because ther quality of a Wii game goes down if it goes multi, if its made specifaclly for the wii, than the game will be much more well made.

It also coming out for the PC, DS, and Moblies, so they will probably have good ideas for controls.

It's hard to categorize it. Essentially, you build your planet from the ground up starting with micro-organisms. Eventually, you create civilaztions with creatures of your design and can view other worlds that people have created.

I should HOPE it comes out for the PS3. Otherwise, I'm going to have a hard time playing it (at least, with online interactivity, as I don't have Live GOLD, or a Wii)...

BTW: Creature data is only supposed to take up about what? 1KB? I doubt worlds take up a LOT of data (probably several megs a world though), so I can EASILY see it fitting on a DVD9, let alone a Blu-Ray disk. Most of the planets in the galaxy or whatever, will likely be made from other players.

It is a good thing though, that the character designs only take about 1KB...otherwise, it would cause a lot of data transmission errors, and much of the game wouldn't be possible...

I want it on the PS3, as I said...

But didn't he say he wanted to bring this to other consoles after they are done with the PC version?

Yes, he did. I recall him saying that he hopes to bring it to every console possible. So far, the PC and DS versions were confirmed for the earlier release, and a Wii version should come out later on. There haven't been any other versions confirmed, however, but Will Wright wants Spore to pollinate be released on as many consoles as it can.

As fun as it will be to play Spore, and to play it with a Wii controller, currently I'm amused by the Sony fanclub (characterized by their catchphrase; "BluRay") that think less of innovation because it doesn't require 50 gigs to store and a supercomputer to run.

iLLmatic made the best point; what did you think the PC version was going to be downloaded from?

As always, if you listen very hard at night, you will hear the maniacal cackles of the Sonic Flash in celebration.
